Shivvy End of Year Thingy

S

My time at Northbrook College Sussex has been great I’m delighted to be here, it was a big change for me but I’m glad I went through with it. The course has helped me develop into a more complete performer. I was very fortunate to the opportunities they gave me. I was able to express my cultural side to the college. My 2 year degree in FdA Acting and Contemporary Theatre Making has now come to an end. I am now staying on to study the BA.

End of year thing :)

I have learned various skills throughout my two years at Northbrook; many professional, some personal. I hope to go on and complete the BA Honors.

3.     demonstrated employability in a work-based or simulated work-based context

Unit 11 Presentations

Hello all, i will confirm timing for these presentations later on but for now, please remember you have to present on the fringe project for assessment on unit 11. These are the criteria and the presentations will be individual ones, 10 minutes each, to tutors and the group.
Reminder of criteria for unit 11:

On completion of the unit you should have:

1.     developed knowledge and understanding of requirements for entering industry practice
2.     demonstrated competency with presenting and representing self as an industry-ready practitioner
3.     demonstrated employability in a work-based or simulated work-based context

4.     developed self-awareness as a practitioner from evaluating own practice in relation to contexts for industry practice

Consider what you want to present on your learning and your future place in the industry. Avoid describing the experience; instead analyse the processes and learning. You might focus for example on your experience and research on devising and how that compares to other companies. Marketing, pitching, audience engagement, costs, audience feedback etc. How did the process and show compare to other shows in the fringe? What was the target audience, how did the creative writing collaboration work etc...

Congratulations!

Well done all for last night's show - very enjoyable! The Head Of Dept, Nick Gardner came to see you and asked me to pass on his thanks and best wishes.

I agree with Vanessa's notes about how to improve - really OWN that space and your time on stage - don't worry about changes from scene to scene being so distinct  - as V says, get them slicker and almost you can blur one into another as you did in parts last night.

Just be careful with the song from the two Charlottes when Victor is playing Guitar - last night the melody didn't seem to fit with the guitar chords or the rhythm, so perhaps work on that - or make it more obvious that it doesn't fit - whichever is right.

You are best when you really interact with each other and us - we are drinking in all the ideas and facts and interactions, so relax into that WITH your audience!

Have a brilliant show tonight,

Lisa x

Notes for tomorrow

Well done all, good first show i hope you enjoyed it and feeling proud of your work.

I would like to propose for tomorrow that we make the transitions between scenes much more sleek and overlapping.  maybe consider having all props ready on stage and minimum exits behind those awkward curtains.

Other small changes i think need to include lifting as much of the floor work as possible. Much bigger audience expected tomorrow so the floor will be even less visible.

Lots of flyering to do before the show; 500 flyers in our props box if you want to get a head start and fill the seats!

Charlotte and Victor please learn new script so we can work a little more on that scene.

It is my birthday today. It really is.
We were quite young back when we started making this show. But we are a little older now.
And more handsome.
Thank you for giving us your advice.  We have been getting lots of advice, but we could always do with some more.
We have met a lot of people. Older people, younger people, and some that we already knew but listened to better. I spoke to my granddad. He is 80. I said granddad, what advice would you give me for turning 20? He said, ‘ I don’t know.

We looked at comedy too. We found thousands of jokes about growing older. D
We wanted to understand ageing. And laugh in its face. But the jokes made growing old seem sad. Funny, but sad. Everyone is joking about growing old. Even the old.   Especially the old.

Marilyn Monroe ideas/fitting in with the show

I was thinking that it doesn't make any sense for me to come on just to sing happy birthday and say my age line if there is no link between Charlotte and I.

  • Maybe in Cody's scene I'm in the middle of the line and I go along with the group until I die at 36 where as the others keep going to reach Cody because they are getting older. When everyone disappears Charlotte and I could have a convocation which would be based on quotes that marilyn has said just before ami comes on and says her line.
  • Maybe Marilyn is a star and charlotte inspires to be like her?
  • Or maybe Charlotte questions why she died? And if she did live her life how she wanted to? And should it be someone that she should look up to as a role model?
  • Or Marilyn could be charlottes guide/a thought process so the quotes that Marylin has said pops in and out and Charlotte understands and makes her own judgement on these and even questions them maybe, just a thought.
Even if this idea doesn't work I think there needs to be some link between Charlotte and I or else it doesn't make sense. If you have any ideas please leave them below!

I've found some quotes about starts to link in with the beginning of the show and also found one about shoes!!!
