•how do the casting decisions affect your
group's interpretation
I believe
everyone was fairly happy with the casting so were prepared for their main
roles the thing that made everyone think about the roles they had were those
people with multiple roles who only auditioned for one of them. Midway through
there was a change in casting because someone was ill but I feel everyone
reacted well and managed to cope with the change with not too much hassle. For me
I looked into some of the characters I hadn’t auditioned for but had got and
made them my own adding characteristics and trying out different ways of
playing them and seeing how far I could take them while still making them realistic.
I also looked into my main role Rodger and how I would physically play him as I
hadn’t played someone of his age before so I researched into it and looked up
other actors who played a character of similar age and adjusted my posture and
vocals to suit the role better. I feel the casting decision aloud us as a cast
to develop an understanding of how the play will look and has allowed each
actor to develop their characters and experiment with different ways of
portraying there characters. I looked at my characters in a Stanislavski way
but adding in Brecht styles to show characterization such as gestus (repetitive
movements for my character the Duty sergeant) but I also created a back story
to develop an understanding of my characters relationships with other
characters and figure out how they would react in certain situations.
