Undecided

First impressions:

I utally adore a good murder - it's just up my street and I really like the script that we were given - although it would be great to decrease it in some parts as it can sound a bit wordy. I have always been fascinated in murderd even since I was young (ok that sounds odd), but I love the idea of planting ideas to distract the audience, using different methods and all that. Geraldine McEwan has been really my inspiration growing up doing drama - she's my one and only tv actor that portrays her character incredibly well. I wanted to say that when reading the script and trying to wrap my brain around who murdered who, that I believe the script is very vague in actually telling the audience how the victim died. When we read it today and I've just re-read it again, it's not very clear that someone has died? Or is this just me? Has the murder happened before the play starts?

I believe the reason why I'm not skipping to conclusions is that I can't find any facts, for example (I don't know how the victim died but) the victim could have been poisoned? Drugged? Or something? Plus I have no idea who Ivor is/was? If I finally work out that then I'll have a better idea and understanding of the play as well as each of the characters.

Radio:

I'm not sure on this either, thinking something funny - (impressions? Innuendo Bingo?) or on the other hand I'm up for doing something much darker. I would like to work on how to show emotion through voice in depth to get a better understanding of what path I could take. Although what I have thought of, I have based it around what would I like to listen to and what emotion would I like to get out of listening to it - for me I would listen to someone funny that would make me laugh rather than someone talking about the weather or politics - although if you made that funny that would be cool too.

Or: just every day things that just get on your nerves or just makes your day, makes you giggle eg; people at the gym, old people waving their walking sticks to wave down a bus, trying to imitate someone's accent, listening into overheard convosations.....)

Or: impersonating a character - basically making strange noises

Or: accent challenge as I don't know about you guys but when I hear people trying to recreate an accent I just BURST out laughing, it's just to funny and then all of a sudden you (as the audience member) are trying also to recreate it in the best way you can.

Suspects for the murder-granted I have a lot!

I've just read this murder mystery again to try to understand it a bit more and get my head around it. I've thought about this a lot and I'm still really undecided I don’t really know who the murderer is. But there are some that I think could be in the pipe line and have an alibi for the murder. Ok just before you start reading my suspects granted I have suspected a lot of the cast but you know you can never be to careful hopefully at least one of my suggestion is right!. So bare with me but i think the suspects for the murder is either

Maggie- Ok so just an observation but 1.she is wearing a scarf and Ivor was strangled!!....coincidence I think not!!!. I think she could have done it because she didn’t like Ivors music and the singer she likes (Rob Stuart) has gone out of work because of him and she loves and would do anything for the Rod Stuart (the singer act whatever his name is) as a fan girl would. I also think she could have done it because she seems to really like Gerry and seems to be really sympathetic toward him (obviously she would be but that’s not the point) because Ida is having an affair. I think she could have maybe taken it into her own hands to sort out the relationship for her best friends? to make Ida come to her senses. It feels a bit like Ida has dragged her into this party and Maggie is a bit fed up with her?.

Frank-Lee- 1. He wanted to play his own music and wanted to be in the spot light for once 2. He wanted some credit as he done all the work for Ivor and never got any recognition

Bet or Rob- These are both brother and sister and I think they could have been trying to help each other out for both Bet’s business and Rob’s career. So 1. Killing Ivor would help publicity for Bet’s pub as he’s a small star 2. Bet could want to get back at Ivor for giving Rob a breakdown as she had to put up with the consequences of Robs breakdown all because of Ivor kicking him out of the band.
Ida- The obvious reason is the affair BUT also she went to question ivor but apparently he was already dead. I don’t know if I believe this. She could have wanted her old life back and didn’t want to go to America with Ivor (like she says) and could have killed him because she saw no other way out. She even says that she was stupid to have an affair in the script. Also she’s very worried about the flower bed (the chrysanthemums) and if she loved Ivor you would have thought she would be very upset really I don’t know maybe it was a cover up? I don’t know

Trevor- I don’t know I just think he’s suspicious. He’s always like in mostly everything he says that he was working early but maybe he wasn’t?
Gerry- also for the obvious reason of his wife’s affair and he had a bit of a fight (not really a fight) with Ivor the night before about a suspicious circumstance.

Also just throwing it out there Melody is very quiet so I don't know weather this is enough to be a suspect she could be fed up with Ivor? but yes I don't know I'll leave it there anyway again I hope at least one of these is right!.

Ideas on casting

A first proposal. Going on choices mostly rather than considered suitability.
Please discuss, argue, bid, or agree. Script will be edited etc. As we discussed, Bet can be shared in some way with additional script and changes. and inspector and sidekick need to be written in. I cut wiglaf. Again.

Inspector & sidekick : jack & charlotte
gerry:    dan
ida:   gigi
bet :   ami/ lissie
rob:   victor
maggie:    cody
frank:   jordan
melody:   anna
trevor:   shivvy

Rod Stewart impersonator.

What if we changed this to an Elvis impersonator? or someone else? then whoever plays that part can act like that which would be fun?

Radio!

Hey Y'all.

It is really exciting to be doing a radio show.
my idea for this play is a serious of monologues consisting of off record interviews with people involved in a serial killer case, this may included key detectives, reporters following the case or pathologists.
I feel this could be a good chance to play with characters and story, and also help me gain experience in writing.
the reason for the interviews to be "off record" is to allow human emotion to seen, having someone in the character of a detective talking about a case would be interesting, but to have it on a human level and hear a character with traits and opinions i feel can be much more effective as a piece.

Any thoughts? feedback is more than welcome.

Radio Show Idea

The idea that has come to my head, is a football debate, i thought it would be a different, interesting topic, i think i will have it scripted as people may not have a good knowledge of football.

a couple of individual ideas,

Messi VS Ronaldo

Pele VS Maradona

will think of more….

Why Cody's accusations are wrong

Hello friends, your probably wondering why Cody Nobrain Mckenzie is accusing poor innocent Margret, when the Obvious culprit is The almight flesh-eating-Wiglaf, now to my understanding Cody is a simple house wench so she may not be able conprehend true thinking and she drinks cat piss, yet my mind wonders why blame innocent Margret, well in 1998 Ms Mckenzie fell in love with Wiglaf after indulging on a mead infuse act and this is why she shifts the blame to Margret the kind, who recently stopped aids with her bare hands. In conclusion we should believe that the only reasonsable suspect is Wiglaf, thank you and peace out!

A Tribute to Murder!

after re-reading the script and giving it some thought,
my first suspicion  was with Ida as I felt she may have got cold feet about moving to the U.S with Ivor?!
as said, after reading through the script again I now feel that Maggie may have killed Ivor.
the process of thought is that she is solely there to see the Rod Stuart tribute act?
it mentions in her character bio that the idea of "having to endure a live performance of Akie Joynt" filled her with "dread".
Maybe, just maybe; she really hates Akie Joynt to the point she would murder the lead singer?
Another factor may be her discovery of Ida and Ivor's secret love affair.
This may be stupidly in-depth thought, or she did the deed!
but who knows, IT'S A MURDER MYSTERY!!

The fantastic radio show of 'Co-co flavoured Chardonnay.'

Myself (Co-co) and Charlotte (Chardonnay) have come up with an idea of a radio show.

we are taking on the personas of 'obsessive fan girls' where we interview chosen people of interest.

we can create an interview where we ask people to ring in for us to ask questions. but to our surprise, no one calls in. which means we have to take it into our own hands and ring people. if in the likelihood that they answer we can then interview them. asking question. The people we will be ringing, we would of already had and in depth understanding on who that person is. we want the to feel like they are celebrities who are uncomfortable with fan girls who know everything about them.

we will research into obsessive questions, but not going too far.we will also research into people and seeing how easy it is to get all there information.

if there is to be a meaning behind this it should be…

. Don't put personal info on Facebook.
. Don't be a celebrity.

The ultimate radio show! … THE VICTOR BUTT SHOW!!

my idea for the radio show is based on the popular pod cast show called The Ricky Gervais show. what happens in The Ricky Gervais show is that ricky and steven merchant ask Karl Pilkington questions  and metaphors/theories to dissect or ask him about his daily business and Karl answers with his own unique view on the world. In my idea i would have me and Jakko taking the positions of Ricky Gervais and Steve Merchent while Victor takes the position of Karl Pilkington. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxvABwEayJ8  <----- heres a link to The Ricky Gervais show that i want to base the Victor Butt Show on. the length of the show can be changed depending on how many subjects we discuss and theres the possibility of people phoning in to give us subjects they want us to discuss. i think this show would be be perfect for north brook radio because it would be funny light hearted and is very flexible with times subject etc.

Murder Mystery Killer

I think the killer is………

GERRY

He found about the affair and got revenge.

Who done it!

I think Maggie done it, she is the only one who seems up-beat and she doesn't have that sense of normality, like the other characters. she stood out in some on the scenes just from what she was saying. but now i think maybe Maggie is just a cover up character for someone who really done it. Maggie could just be the one that everyone suspects. when it could be someone who is more in the background. i need to read the script again to get a better idea.

The Obvious Conclusion

My substations and various research all points to the inevetible conclusions that Wiglaf is the murderous participant in this story due to many reasons yet mainly because he admitted it on the Jeremy kyle show.

the murderer is….

i reckon its Frank he's just to shady for my liking and to quite…..

Murder Mystery

Georgia and I read through the script together aloud the other night and had a few ideas for how we can adapt this and cut it down to something we can perform in May.

The characters are pretty out there, but once we read it through to Act two we could see how this could take shape which was really exciting.

As there are only 8 characters we discussed how we thought we could create characters. As most of the characters speech is presented in short monologes and Georgia suggested we could all work together to pick this apart and create new characters from some of the text we cut or adapt.

I really liked the idea of creating a few 'mole' like characters who could, in character, take part in the evening as a spect-actor, pretending not to be part of the play but trying to influence the audiences perception of who the murderer is, if we decide to not reveal the muderer to even ourselves before performance then the people trying to influence the audience could be doing so from their own interpretation of who they think the murderer is, whih could bring some interesting perspectives to the story.

Im really looking forward to playing with this!!!

Good to go!

Hello Vanessa,

It was great to meet you all yesterday. I'm really looking forward to what you and your students produce with the script.
Liz has emailed me back today encouraging that we make the play our own and she's happy for you to do whatever you like to achieve that.

I hope this means that we can progress forward with a confirmed yes.

Thanks,

Elli

Some of the theory behind today's session...

LITERACY: traditionally and simply, the idea that one can read and write (text). Now, technology has transformed this ( how we read and write websites for example ), alongside the range of alternatives to text in information and meaning making available to us.
       • If mono-modal implies a form of communication – e.g. text/words, where representation is sequential, then...Multi modality is what we can create/find in e learning: image, icon, text, soundfiles, modelling software etc, which does not need to be sequential....it can be re-framed
SOCIAL SEMIOTICS – signs in their social environment or setting : the theory behind multi-modality, insofar as it “allows the choosing of any modes in any combination to convey meaning

Comedy night

Hello all, catering request. Anyone funny and brave and generous enough to do this?

Hello,
My name is Edward Demangel (Frenchy), I got referred to you to find some actors for an event I am organizing at the Arundel restaurant on the 1st April. I am looking to do a comedy show to raise some money for a charity, I was hoping to see if you had some students available to perform in the evening between 19.15 and 20.30.
Thank you kindly,

Edward Demangel

Info-Graphic session with Lisa

Hi, I thought again I might put this up on the blog for those who weren't here in the session or for those who need these notes up on here.

Colour (s)/Text:
·      Font-face?
·      Text Size?
·      Hues of colours?
·      What do certain colours give off? Emotions? Feelings?

Audience Engagement:
·      Keywords
·      Colours
·      Shapes

Meaning Making

Multi-Modality
·      Meaning is made from a range of modes: Text/Words, Depth (Scale, Dimension), Colour, Contrast, Shape, Sound, Moving Images, Still Images, Form

·
Other Notes:
·      Guide the watcher/audience through the sections
·      Well known logos – safety, secure

·      Who is your audience? Male/Female? Age? Does this impact on what you are going to create?

c One of the well know info-graphics is by Harry Beck who created the London tube map which combines shape and colours with text to convey information. Easy to read and to find information quickly.
