  • Please watch this; watching it now and so inspiring and helpful on Beowulf
  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1C0sFXU0SLo

  • does beowulf fight Grendel only for fame? for what?

  • documentary says beowulf our nation's greatest gift to the world. Why?????

  • documentary says the language most effect on use today; language = beliefs.

  • Germanic Anglo saxons were immigrants to England in 15th century.

  • english language today descendant of their speech. 'words define our core beliefs and relations with other human beings.'

  • set in denmark; like Hamlet!!!! Maybe when Beowulf is coming from Sweden to Denmark, he meets Hamlet, on his way to England.

  • original manuscript got burnt.

  • have audience draw a picture of the monster they imagine Grendel to be? Long roll of paper adn charcoal and audience work together to draw monster. then work together to take arm off picture.

  • MInute 13. watch the story-teller; victor seems very suited to this bit. Learn it!

  • Anglo saxon belief ; death beginning of journey.

There is an original manuscript!

  1. really like the idea that the audience create a dragon, or monster of their own. We could split them into groups or something and have lots of different interpretations of the same monster.
