Evaluation For Transformers

                              Evaluation For Transformers

Transformers started by having the production pitch some ideas and we chose which idea we like, I went with Josh’s idea of peppers ghost as it sounded different and I was intrigued after we chose our idea to work on we had a meet up to talk about the idea further and that is when we learnt more about the project including its limitations and that was when we learnt how little space we had to perform so that we could be seen through the mirror.
Before devising the piece we showed for our final performance it took us awhile to think of how we could use this effect into a story. From the start we knew we did not want the story to be a ghost/poltergeist event or anything to do with the supernatural and it seemed too obvious and overdone and it would be hard as I wouldn’t be able to move anything from behind the mirror but only look like I can. After looking at some ideas we looked into a company called black mirror because they do standalone performances that have weird twists in them along with a powerful meaning. We watched an episode were you could talk to someone who has died by text it than moves onto phone calls and finally the last step is they are grown with some gel in a bath this concept was a great help and became our starting point for the performance.
Using this as our stimulus we went on a path that was similar which involved phones and the person behind the mirror being able to see and react to the reflection we thought this would be hard as neither the reflection nor the person behind the mirror can see each other. That along with the fact that we became less interested in that idea we moved onto the idea that the reflection would be a memory and would appear whenever a certain  object or action has occurred which would bring up the reflection doing that action. With that idea set we practised physical movements with Sarah in a workshop and then took what we learnt from that workshop along with feedback from others to devise a physical movement.
Our final bit of feedback was from the BA’s which came to watch our rehearsal they helped us by giving feedback and saying what story they  got from it and what the relationship between the characters looked like. The feedback we got changed the physical movements slightly and we added in repetition which resembled a new day happening. We than finally got some rehearsal time and got to perform in the space. Even though there were communication issues with our production person our actual performance got great feedback and I feel it was a show that was imaginative and unique.
