Shivvy's Unit 7 Acting For Film

Shah Rukh Khan

The Actor I have decided to study is Shah Rukh Khan also known as King of Bollywood.

The reason I have decided to study this actor is simply because I idolize him and because he is my favourite actor in the world.

I will tell you how Shah Rukh Khan earned the name “Baadshah” (King) of Bollywood.

From being Nominated 231 times he won 211 Awards

70 of the 80 movies Shah Rukh has featured in are romantic films.

.
Shah Rukh Khan was born in 1965 and went on to feature in over 80 Bollywood films.
He began his career in 1988 as a 23-year-old boy in a TV series called ‘Fauji’ and then featured in another TV serial called ‘Dil Dariya’ both shows were made in Delhi.
Shah Rukh said both shows “got a very high rating and was being recognized as a well-known TV star” However even with the success he had he felt he “was the worst actor in the world” because of the film shooting experience he had. He said “yes they were retakes” but “15 retakes” proved to be too much.

Shah Rukh said “acting is something that keeps on growing as much as you want it to. If I had stopped believing in myself then, I would have never grown”
He never stopped believing and finally his big break came in 1992 where he starred in ‘Deewana’ where he was recognized for his work and won the prestigious Bollywood ‘Filmfare Award’ for Best Actor Debut Male.

Shah Rukh Khan has proved to everyone that starting off small in TV shows you can work your way up to stardom. Although he says he “had no method to become a star, I did whatever made me happy”

What I love about Shah Rukh Khan is that he adapt to play any roles, from hero to villain and he also played the role of disability and played it really well. What most people don’t know about him is that he is known as the heart of Bollywood, because in majority of the films he has been in he plays a hero, romantic gentleman.

As said he got his big break in ‘Deewana’ but interestingly in 1993 he experienced playing a villainous, negative role twice in ‘Baazigar’ and ‘Darr’ “which took his career to new heights and established him as an acclaimed actor” in Bollywood. He said “evil or devil” “be it in films and television, have some sort of attraction” Shah Rukh started with theatre and there was nothing better like a “heroic” character but he also says playing a villain is “one of the greatest” as an actor he enjoys playing the roles.

Here is what Shah Rukh Khan says about acting he believes that acting should be kept real and simple, don’t think too much about it, you just have to feel it, and if you are unsure then ask questions to your director, tell him you don’t know what to do and he will help you.

King of Bollywood, King of Romance, Shah Rukh Khan a man loved by the whole world and also many Bollywood celebrities here are what they say about him.
Having co-starred with Shah Rukh Khan in many films this is what Kajol says about him:
“For me Shah Rukh Khan is like a God” He is “kind and will always take care about the problems of his friends” He is a person who is very easy to discuss and talk with. He likes to help people. For me he is a very “special human being”
Ambitabh Bachchan
Shah Rukh Khan is the rage of the country he is a “superstar and loved by millions of people”....he's a very “very hard working actor” doesn't take anything for “granted”

Shahid Kapoor
I think Shah Rukh is a “completely self-made” person. He started “right from the beginning and has reached the top” all through his own efforts. I wish him more success and the best of health.
The whole world says Shah Rukh Khan is such a humbled even Hollywood actors would like the opportunity to work with Shah Rukh Khan.
Shah Rukh believes acting is giving your heart, knowing you will lose it. Feeling the truth even when it’s a lie. Believing it’s permanent knowing it won’t last. He also said acting is expressing what you don’t understand not what you know. If you know it then it’s a fact. That’s facting not acting.

In comparison these are some of the techniques Michael Caine has said.
An actor relaxes in front of the camera by concentrating, The camera catches everything you do, so don’t be afraid to play things subtlety, If you’re going to smoke on-screen, you must plan it absolutely perfectly, don’t mess up the continuity. A majority of movie acting is relaxation.
Personally speaking. Whenever I see Shah Rukh Khan in movies, he looks so relaxed, concentrating really hard, you don’t sense any stress. He knows what he is doing, what emotions to play. The characters he plays are not always the same, he shifts from being hero to villain, villain to hero. Another thing I like about Shah Rukh he cares for the world, he wants his acting to relate to the world and that’s why he starred in the movie titled ‘My Name Is Khan’ made in 2010 the movie brought such a strong message. Shah Rukh acted as an Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome man, post 9/11. The message portrayed was that not every Muslim, Hindu’s are terrorists.
When Shah Rukh performs he makes your heart melt, not every actor can do that, he has the handsome look and charm about him. Especially when he is either dying in a movie or crying he shares the emotion with the audience and we as humans feel it.
With Shah Rukh being a smoker, this shouldn’t affect him at all, when he smokes on screen, it looks natural and perfected every time. He only smokes when he is a villain. It has the cool, gangster look about it.
Shah Rukh Khan also believes when it comes to acting in Bollywood movies “you have to be an all-rounder” he has described what life in Bollywood film industry is like in cricketing terms. He said this because in Bollywood, you have songs, dance, and action in the movies. In order to make it big at the industry, Shah Rukh said “you can't just be the batsman, or the wicket-keeper, or just a good fielder. You have to be physically fit” an all-rounder.

Short Films

Disney Short Paperman 2012

I couldn't find one that I really like and the ones that I do like are animated.
Paperman was the one that I really liked even though it was a non- speaking short film I absolutely love the idea of it. It has many meanings behind it but for me personally it shows that Love can happen anytime, anywhere instantly. It was made creatively, the fact that it was made in black & white effect works, it gave it a romantic atmosphere.
